Tjalf has real charisma and is a funny character. If you give him a stick he will play with you by lunging you. He adores attention and will demand it. Always first to come and say hi. Tjalf needs someone that is willing to build a relationship and has firm boundaries,but act with softness/kindness. He does not have a personal space bubble and would clim into your lap if he could. No malicious intention,just an oversized "puppy". He is very food motivated and thrives on positive reinforcement. Tjalf has mainly been doing outrides and Safari under saddle. In the arena he only works forward with someone that is confident and encouraging with a strong/developed leg.
He does best with routine and consistency.
He is a relationship horse and needs one or two riders that will walk a journey with him. Please contact us for videos of free movement and under saddle.
Tjalf has a solid groundwork foundation with liberty based training and liberty lunging.
He knows how to:
- Yield hindquarters and shoulders.
- How to park.
- Basic clicker/target training and stretches.
- Started lateral work and bending on ground.
- Backing up.
- Know Bodywork very well.
- Tie up.
- Good with vet/vaccinations.
- Currently barefoot. On a 6 week farrier cycle. Stands well for farrier.
- Has a passports and is Microchipped.
- Vaccinations up to date.
- Easy to halter and is affectionate.
- He receives regular dentals and physio with us.
- Deworming up to date.
We would love to rehome him together with his half brother Viggo (package price available to the perfect private home.) Export can be arranged to all neighbouring countries or East Africa via Joburg.
