Piper (of Hamelin) is a 5-year-old OTTB gelding by Oratorio, standing approximately 16.1 hh, with a compact, stocky build and a soft, kind expression. He was originally purchased as a prospect for Western mounted games and has the athletic, sturdy type to suit a variety of disciplines.
He has been off the track for 1.5 years and has since focused exclusively on groundwork and lunging, allowing him time to decompress and mature mentally. He is quiet in nature, gentle with other horses, and not herd-bound — happy to do his own thing in a herd setting. He is easy to handle and calm in his environment.
Since being in our care he has remained sound.
Piper is an exceptionally soft horse in both feel and temperament, with a velvet coat and a gentle demeanor to match. He is very quiet, still carrying some of the “freeze” response typical of ex-racehorses, and would benefit from a patient, steady home to continue his education at his own pace.
A lovely blank slate for someone wanting a kind, sane young horse to bring along thoughtfully.
